Chobham St Lawrence Handbell Ringers celebrate Christmas 2006

The Christmas Season is always our busiest time of year, and 2006 was no exception.

A typical day at the weekend during December comprised ringing for 2 hours at Kew in the Orangery at Lunch time, a run back down to the Chobham area for a performance at a retirement home during the afternoon, followed by playing as part of a Carol service in a Church in the evening.

This year we visited Kew 4 times, played at 6 retirement homes or homes for the disabled, and played for services at 2 churches: Our Lady and St Dominic’s Church in Farnborough, where a number of the team are regular worshippers, and at St Lawrence Church, Chobham the home of the handbell team.

In addition we performed our usual Saturday morning carols at High Cross Church in Camberley, and an evening entertainment for a business conference near Winchester.

Our Christmas performances raise money for children’s homes, as well as to cover our own expenses.

Although busy, we had a thoroughly enjoyable time becoming a part of the Christmas festivities for so many people.
